News: Looking Back at 2008

At the end of the year, 2008, there is no lack of important news, The economy of the country is in terrible shape, to mention but one subject, and that today is central to everything that is done within the country.

A new administration was elected during 2008 and will take over the top offices of the country early in the new year. It will be their responsibility to deal with the situation, and while they have an impressive backing in the country, their’s is a major headache.
At the same time, there is question of major ecological challenges presently facing the nation, If such turns out to be the case, the challenges facing the new administration are truly immense.

Meanwhile, there is a real struggle taking place within the citizenry as to the role of revelation and reason affecting all lives individually and collectively. The new rulers need to be aware of this struggle.

While we consider ourselves basically a rational people, the briefest reflection demonstrates most of core beliefs come from religion or revelation. For example, our entire society is based upon belief in the sacredness of the individual, a truth gained entirely from revelation. And so, with our other key beliefs. As individuals and as a people we are dependent upon revealed truths. Reason, rationality, enters the scene only later. So, to disparage revelation is counter to everything we are.

Individual citizens as well as national leaders must become more aware of these truths. Otherwise, we act against our very selves.
